We’re working really hard to be transparent, to be conscious of the fabrics we use and the dyes and paints we use, we want to produce products in ethical environments that can be recycled to other family members and will last the test of time. We love nothing more than seeing our bibs we produced 4 years ago still in use when you tag us on Instagram.

So what is Fast Fashion?

Did you know that fast fashion is the second biggest pollutant for the environment behind oil? Did you know the average item of clothing is worn just 6 times before it’s binned?

We’re buying more clothes every year and not recycling the ones we have and we’re buying clothing from shops that don’t produce those products ethically and in safe and fair working environments which all contribute negatively to the environment.

From a production point of view we ensure our manufacturers offer a fair wage and safe working environment for their workers, we produce all our products in Europe, in Turkey and all of our manufacturers have achieved GOTS certification, it’s one of our key criteria.

So what exactly does GOTS certified mean?

We have always used Oeko-tex certified fabric and dyes/paints, this for us is the absolute minimum standard and this means they have been stringently tested to ensure there are no harmful chemicals or dyes used. In 2016 we began switching all our cotton used in products to GOTS certified organic cotton and we’re 95% there. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

Did you know that a textile product carrying the GOTS label grade ‘organic’ must contain a minimum of 95% certified organic fibres whereas a product with the label grade ‘made with organic’ must contain a minimum of 70% certified organic fibres?

Wait there's more..

From a production point of view we ensure our manufacturers offer a fair wage and safe working environment for their workers, we produce all our products in Turkey and all of our manufacturers have achieved GOTS certification, it’s one of our key criteria. They couldn’t be GOTS certified without high standards of health and safety and workers’ rights being met. One manufacturer also has external certification for social accountability under standard SA8000 and another complies with a code of conduct which is audited regularly by Amfori. The principles of the BCSI code of conduct range from fair remuneration to no child labour, along with a step-by-step approach that enables companies to monitor, engage, get empowered and receive support to put sustainable trade at the heart of their business.
